Commenting on the convergence between personal branding and crisis communications, Katie said:
“Most organizations don’t realize that staying true to their personal brand is actually most important during a crisis situation. Crisis brings elevated news outlets and criticism, and therefore, new eyes. When developing a response and/or action to address and correct a situation, companies should always be assessing whether the action they’re planning to take aligns with their branding, or contradicts it. It’s similar to the saying that, “You only really see someone’s true colors when they’re under pressure and adversity.” Brands should view their crisis the same way. Their response to the situation is a blatant testimony to whether or not their branding is actually embodied from inside-out in the organization.”
